The department of Mechanical Engineering strives to train students in mechanical engineering science as well as application of these scientific methods to conceive, organize & carry out scientific design of engineering system

The professional programme of Department includes a deeper study of number of engineering sciences to which the students are introduced at the core curriculum level, experimental solution of physical problems, techniques & method of design of system relevant to the contemporary industrial world. The broad areas include Energy Conversion & Power Systems, Heat Transfer & Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids & Stress Analysis, Manufacturing Science, Industrial Engineering, Automatic Control & Engineering Design.

The practical aspects of the curriculum are in no way less important than the theoretical knowledge for the proper understanding of the basic concepts hence with this objective a sound practical knowledge is imparted to the students for which the department has well equipped labs.

The department has started M.Tech. (Mech. Engg.) with specialization in Manufacturing Technology and Automation (MTA), as its demand in the industry as well as in teaching is on rising trend. Recently Welding and Mechatronics labs have been setup to cater the need of subject specialization of M.Tech. whereas Metal Cutting Lab work is being done in already existing workshop.

This department has dedicated and competent faculty members to impart quality education, project guidance, personality development to enable them to be placed with prestigious organizations. Program Educational Objectives:
  • To prepare students of Mechanical Engineering to excel in Engineering, Management and Interdisciplinary PG programs or to succeed in careers in industry, technical professions or entrepreneurship through global, rigorous education.
  • To provide students with a solid foundation in mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals required to solve engineering problems in thermal, design, materials and manufacturing engineering and also to pursue higher studies.
  • To train students with good scientific and engineering breadth in the areas of automobile engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, computational methods, energy technologies so as to comprehend, analyze, design and create novel products and solutions for the real life problems.
