Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology was established in the year 2006. The department has excellent infrastructure and competent faculty to provide the ideal technical education to meet the industrial standards. The department treats information technology as a multidisciplinary science that emphasizes the application of computing technologies. Therefore, the department lays emphasis on Web Development, Multimedia technology, Operating Systems, Computer Graphics, database, and software engineering & testing, as well as on networking technologies. The Department provides exposure to emerging technologies like DOS, E-Commerce, Data mining & data warehousing.

The research area of the Department is in the field of software testing, data/knowledge based systems like database systems and data mining, Quantum Computing, and computer networking.

We offer intensive exposure to latest technologies through labs which are equipped with latest computer technologies & servers in support of the course structure.

Program Educational Objectives:

The Program Educational Objectives (PEO) developed for the B.Tech in Information Technology are

  • To prepare the leading professionals, innovators, and entrepreneurs to develop and deploy software, information systems, and information management tools.
  • To Train the graduates who will interact with their peers in other disciplines in industry and society and contribute to the economic growth of the country.
  • To nurture the graduates who will be well equipped to pursue a career path in teaching, IT industry and research.

Scope for Employment

  • Students who graduate can start as System Developers and move on to becoming Architects, Technical Leaders, and Managers
  • As Solution Developers / Specialists in IT / IT-enabled Services or as System Developers / Integrators
  • As Software Developers in vertical industry sectors such as manufacturing, banking/finance and health care
  • As Design Engineers in building network security and management solutions
